My Personality Type: INTP “The Architect”

Posted in Me on December 23, 2008 by mfurman

Architects need not be thought of as only interested in drawing blueprints for buildings or roads or bridges. They are the master designers of all kinds of theoretical systems, including school curricula, corporate strategies, and new technologies. For Architects, the world exists primarily to be analyzed, understood, explained – and re-designed. External reality in itself is unimportant, little more than raw material to be organized into structural models. What is important for Architects is that they grasp fundamental principles and natural laws, and that their designs are elegant, that is, efficient and coherent.

Architects are rare – maybe one percent of the population – and show the greatest precision in thought and speech of all the types. They tend to see distinctions and inconsistencies instantaneously, and can detect contradictions no matter when or where they were made. It is difficult for an Architect to listen to nonsense, even in a casual conversation, without pointing out the speaker’s error. And in any serious discussion or debate Architects are devastating, their skill in framing arguments giving them an enormous advantage. Architects regard all discussions as a search for understanding, and believe their function is to eliminate inconsistencies, which can make communication with them an uncomfortable experience for many.

Ruthless pragmatists about ideas, and insatiably curious, Architects are driven to find the most efficient means to their ends, and they will learn in any manner and degree they can. They will listen to amateurs if their ideas are useful, and will ignore the experts if theirs are not. Authority derived from office, credential, or celebrity does not impress them. Architects are interested only in what make sense, and thus only statements that are consistent and coherent carry any weight with them.

Architects often seem difficult to know. They are inclined to be shy except with close friends, and their reserve is difficult to penetrate. Able to concentrate better than any other type, they prefer to work quietly at their computers or drafting tables, and often alone. Architects also become obsessed with analysis, and this can seem to shut others out. Once caught up in a thought process, Architects close off and persevere until they comprehend the issue in all its complexity. Architects prize intelligence, and with their grand desire to grasp the structure of the universe, they can seem arrogant and may show impatience with others who have less ability, or who are less driven.

My Thoughts and Review on Dexter Season 3 Finale (Spoilers)

Posted in TV Shows on December 15, 2008 by mfurman

I think all and all Season 3’s finale was right on track and a lot of story ark’s were tied up with a couple new ones to follow into Season 4 like Deb finding out that the woman who her dad was Dexter mom and possibly finding out that Brian Moser is Dexter’s brother and how Dexter is going to handle being a Father and a Husband.

Dexter’s Confrontation With The Skinner

I think we all knew this was going to happen The skinner knocks Dexter out and takes him to a abandoned warehouse were he ties Dexter up and Dexter reflects the fact that he’s now knows how it fills to be on the other side of his victims. his dad appears to him and he and Dexter talk about Dexter wanted to be be the best father that he can and he really wants to be around in his son’s life and at the same time he forgives his father it then pans back to Dexter and the skinner Dexter realizes that he has to get control of the skinner so he tells him that he killed Freebo and that the skinner knows Freebo is dead also and it wasn’t about the money it was the fact that he liked to have excuses to be able to skin and torture people. This works and Dexter gets on the skinners nerves and he heads to someplace in the warehouse to look for a knife while the skinner is away Dexter rocks the table that he is tied to and purposely lands hand first on the floor which breaks his hand and Dexter is able to free himself the skinner hears the table fall and comes running back with a knife and confronts Dexter and a fight breaks out between the two of them and ends with Dexter getting cut on his hand and and he breaks the skinners neck.  At this point Deb shows up at the warehouse following a lead from a cigar factory and Dexter throws the skinner off a balcony  into the path of a cop car which runs over the skinner.

Deb Finally Get Her Detective Shield

After 3 seasons Deb is finally promoted to Detective all though not without having to explain to Batista and Laguerta why she slept with a CI. In the end Laguerta tells Deb that is her personal life and that she is one of the most hardest and pain in the ass cops to get along with and hands her her detective shield.

Dexter And Rita Get Married

All season long Dexter and Rita have been planning their wedding and the last scene of the finale is showed with Dexter and Rita standing at the alter exchanging vows and being pronounced man and wife. After the wedding it pans to Dexter and Rita Dancing and blood from Dexter’s stab wound drips on to her wedding dress witch could be symbolic for Dexter’s dark life and Rita’s innocence.

First Thoughts of Google’s Chrome Web Browser

Posted in Software on September 3, 2008 by mfurman

Chrome is goggles new web browser they released to compete against Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox, Apple’s Safari and Oprah. One of my favorite new features is support for multiple processes so each tab runs in isolation so bugs and slow-downs only hit a single tab rather than bring the browser crashing down as we all have experienced with IE,FF, Safari and Oprah. More features include: The V8 JavaScript Engine, Sandbox rendering for security purposes, Multi-process instead of multi-thread Precise garbage collection (eliminate memory leaks), Browser task manager and ‘Gears’. Chrome is currently released in beta so there will be plenty more improvements and advancements to come.
A new approach in browser design may open up the the usability of the internet even more. Chrome may be it, just like Mosaic turned the text internet into the web, and just like the technology of Firefox helped to allow better Web 2.0 code implementation, Chrome, if different enough may just drive innovation in the right direction. And as long as it is open source, it will not hurt innovation.
Competition from Firefox forced Microsoft to improve Internet Explorer. The better performance of Safari beta for windows helped encourage the great work done in Firefox 3 in patching memory leeks and improving speed. Competition is a good thing. A bonus is that Google will be using and contributing to the open source WebKit so other browser makers can take advantage of their work.

Business Advice: Business Mentors

Posted in Business on September 1, 2008 by mfurman

Finding a business mentor could be a great way to grow yourself and your business Whether they’re family members or friends, former bosses, colleagues or executives you’ve met, you can learn something from everyone.

Although before you find a mentor, it would be smart to identify the areas for which you’d like advice, Define what you want a mentor for – finance, marketing, sales, or product development to name a few and avoid the common pitfall for going to the same person as a ” One Stop Shop” for advice.

Just Because you know somebody who may be a “millionare” does not mean that he or she is necessarily the right person to get financial or marketing advice seek out your mentors specialty’s and top qualities and learn from them After you know what you’re looking for, try to find it by joining the types of organizations your potential mentors frequent – charities, sports clubs or business networking groups.

The best way to approach a potential mentor is to introduce yourself and invite him to lunch. Then, ask about his career, the people he admires, whether he’d be willing to offer some advice. Be humble and flattering and make it clear you’re there to learn.
